Autumn Store sales

The first autumn Pedigree Store Sale at Dolgellau took place on the 8th September 2017 with Farmers Marts (RG Jones) Ltd, Dolgellau

 ‘Facebook’ reports the majority of cattle were under 18 months of age, with several lots being 12 – 15 months.  This resulted in a healthy average of £913 for steers and £832 for heifers.

Prices included:

G Jones, Hafod-yr-Esgob Isa, Cwmtirmynach £1225 for a bunch of 4 (21mths/650kg) sold to DA &EM Lewis, Llanmyddyfri.  Another pair was also sold for £1180 (21mth/615kg) to GJ Machin & Son, Melton Mowbray and another steer of 21mth/530kg to DB &ED Evans, Penyglog.

RD &JM Ransome, Lower Storling, Bleddfa made £1095 for a bunch of 5 (25-27mths/585kg) sold to DA &EM Lewis.

MP &M Williams, Hendre Eirian, Talybont made £1038 for a single steer (17mth/480kg) sold to Owen Bros, Bron Feriaeth, Glan Conwy.

EW Jones a’i feibion, Rhiw Waedog, Bala received £1035 for a pair (22mth/540kg) sold to DB &ED Evans, Penyglog.

The highest-price per kg was for a pair of steers from RT Richards, Bron Llan, Llansannan that were sold to A Jones, Ty Calch, Ynys Mon for 231p/kg (430kg).

The highest prices for heifers included:

G Jones, Hafod-yr-Esgob Isa, Cwmtirmynach received £1100 for a pair (24mth/560kg). Another one was also sold for £1080 (25mth/530kg) and another for £1075 (25mth/560kg), all to JRA Tomlinson, Comorian Fawr, Pengarnedd, Oswestry.

ED &B &DE Jones, Bron Tumor Farm, Maentwrog sold a single heifer (25mth/500kg) for £1000 to J Hooton, Brynsiencyn

MP &M Williams, Hendre Eirian, Talybont received £975 for a buch of 3 (19mth/470kg) sold to RN Lewis, Tynyfach, Llanfihangel.

The highest-price per kg was received by JI Williamson, Clegir Mawr, Melin-y-Wig for a pair at 210p/kg (360kg) sold to RN Lewis, Tynyfach, Llanfihangel.

 

 News from Tregaron Mart –

 A sale at Tregaron took place on Tuesday 12th September.  Facebook reports that there was a brisk trade with 70 Welsh Black store cattle entered.  Steers from Siarl Owen, Tynddraenen topped at £1155 and a bunch of steers from Davies, Cwmbyr made £1065.
