Welsh Black Cattle Society welcomes new Chair of the Council

During our recent Council meeting a new Chairman was elected, a first female chair for the Society. We would like to welcome the well-known member Mrs Marian Phillips, Y Bwthyn, Abergwaun into the Chair and Mr Rowland Rees, Brysgaga, Bow Street as Vice Chairman.

The Society would like to wish Mrs Marian Phillips all the best as the new Chair of the Council and Board of Trustees.

Commenting on her appointment Marian Phillips said:

I consider it a great honour to be elected Chairman of the Welsh Black Cattle Society but I also recognise the responsibility that goes with the post. I will endeavour to do my best in supporting members, promoting the breed and ensuring that the Welch Black cattle continue to strive.

Marian takes over Chair of both Council and the Board of Trustees from Mr Meredydd Jones, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Meredydd Jones for his hard work and dedication to the Welsh Black Cattle Society over the last six years as Chairman of the Council.

During his time in office, the Society underwent several changes.  The Society is grateful for Meredydd’s guidance and leadership and the manner in which he initiated these changes effectively.  We wish him well in the future and appreciate that he remains a member of the Council and continues to provide sound advice.
